Step 7

TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS, PURSUE THE LORD SO YOU DON’T NEED THEM ANYMORE!!!

(a barrier to healing)

TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS ARE NEVER ENJOYABLE IN THE FLESH, BUT THE BIBLE SAYS THEY ARE BENEFICIAL IN ROMANS 5:3-5 AS FOLLOWS, “3 And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; 4 and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; 5 and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” We must view our trials from a perspective that God is renewing us to be like His son.

Matthew 3:11

“As for me, I baptize you with water for repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, and I am not fit to remove His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire (meaning trials as gold is refined in fire).”

James 1:2-4

2 Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. 4 And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

2 Corinthians 1:3-7 NLT

3 All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. 4 He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. 5 For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ.

Hebrews 5:8

Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered.

Galatians 6:7-8

7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. 8 For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.

Hebrews 12:5-6

5 and you have forgotten the exhortation which is addressed to you as sons, “MY SON, DO NOT REGARD LIGHTLY THE DISCIPLINE OF THE LORD, NOR FAINT WHEN YOU ARE REPROVED BY HIM; 6 FOR THOSE WHOM THE LORD LOVES HE DISCIPLINES, AND HE SCOURGES EVERY SON WHOM HE RECEIVES.”

Psalm 119:71 NLT

My suffering was good for me, for it taught me to pay attention to your decrees.

Psalm 119:92

If Your law had not been my delight, then I would have perished in my affliction.

Proverbs 3:12

For whom the LORD loves He reproves, Even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights.

Job 5:17-18

17 "Behold, how happy is the man whom God reproves, so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty. 18 "For He inflicts pain, and gives relief; He wounds, and His hands also heal.

Hebrews 12:10-11

10 For they disciplined us for a short time as seemed best to them, but He disciplines us for our good, so that we may share His holiness. 11 All discipline for the moment seems not to be joyful, but sorrowful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness.

Angels, who are swift to hear us, are ministers to us during and after our trials...

Hebrews 1:14 NLT

Therefore, angels are only servants—spirits sent to care for people who will inherit salvation.

Matthew 4:11

Then the devil left Him; and behold, angels came and began to minister to Him.

Psalm 91:11-13

11 For He will give His angels charge concerning you, to guard you in all your ways. 12 They will bear you up in their hands, that you do not strike your foot against a stone. 13 You will tread upon the lion and cobra, the young lion and the serpent you will trample down.

Matthew 26:53

Jesus said, "Or do you think that I cannot appeal to My Father, and He will at once put at My disposal more than twelve legions of angels?”

And angels are powerful, as shown by 2 Kings 19:34-35 where it reads:

34 “I will defend this city and save it, for my sake and for the sake of David my servant." 35 That night the angel of the LORD went out and put to death a hundred and eighty-five thousand men in the Assyrian camp. When the people got up the next morning--there were all the dead bodies!

And finally, we can rest assured that...

Psalm 34:19

Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the LORD delivers him out of them all.
