Step 4

OUR HOPE IS IN GOD, and NOT THE WORLD

(a barrier to healing)

IF WE CHOOSE TO RELY ON GOD, WE WILL SEE HIS GRACE, MERCY AND TEACHING WHICH IN TURN GIVES US HOPE IN OUR SPIRIT, A HOPE THAT KNOWS HE IS THERE FOR US. THE FOLLOWING ARE VERSES THAT WILL GIVE US HOPE IN GOD ONLY...

Matthew 11:28-30

28 “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Romans 5:3-5

3 And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; 4 and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, HOPE; 5 and HOPE does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

Proverbs 4:20-22 NLT

20 My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. 21 Do not let them depart from your sight; Keep them in the midst of your heart. 22 For they are life to those who find them and health to all their body.

Luke 4:18-20 NLT

Jesus said…18 “The Spirit of the LORD is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, 19 and that the time of the LORD’s favor has come.

Ephesians 1:18-21

18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might 20 which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.

2 Corinthians 4:16-17

16 Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day. 17 For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison,18 while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal. NOTE: While it’s not very encouraging to be “decaying”, it is encouraging that it is then called only a “light affliction” and “glory” is ours.

Romans 8:31-32

31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?

Romans 8:26-28

26 In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groaning’s too deep for words; 27 and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. 28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

Hebrews 4:16

Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

We may have a lack of hope due to our situation or circumstances, and even as our health seems to get worse and worse but there are remedies from God, even expect miracles, and He declares that He is our healer but we must do our part sometimes and break down the barriers in this book, but not limited to such...

IMPORTANT:

Dr. Caroline Leaf, who wrote “Who Switched off My Brain” says that “75% to 95% of the illnesses that plague us today are a direct result of our thought life. What we think about affects us physically and emotionally. It's an epidemic of toxic emotions. The average person has over 30,000 thoughts a day. Through an uncontrolled thought life, we create the conditions for illness; we make ourselves sick! Research shows that fear, all on its own, triggers more than 1,400 known physical and chemical responses and activates more than 30 different hormones!

She goes on to say that “Medical research increasingly points to the fact that thinking and consciously controlling your thought life is one of the best ways, if not the best way of detoxing your brain. It allows you to get rid of those toxic thoughts and emotions that can consume and control your mind.” Here are some other lessons:

  • We are wired for love, not fear. That is why God says to love Him and love your neighbor. Such thoughts of anger, unforgiveness, hatred and bitterness to name a few are toxic to your body.

  • Everything you do starts with a thought, so be careful what you listen to, make sure it lines up with the Bible.

  • You can do your own brain surgery so to speak, by renewing your mind with the Word of God.

  • Words are real, electromagnetic and can be measured. Even science is working on this but as usual they are way behind, God has already said it to us ~2000 years ago! So, speak life, not death unto yourself.

  • Thinking on good and noble things releases chemicals to heal and nourish your brain. Thinking on negative things causes no chemical release and your brain dies, causing disease.

  • Healing occurs when you constantly praise God, thanking Him and worshiping Him. That’s how God has designed it. He sort of rigged the system you could say.

  • Do not think on generational curses, but rebuke them and they will not be activated or effective.

If you are not getting a healing and you don’t know the reason be assured that your answer is in Gods Word, the Bible. You just have to make it first in your life and listen and learn from the Lord and His workers. There is a ministry that helps people receive healings and they indicate the many reasons for sickness. This data has been gathered through many thousands of prayer sessions in their healing rooms which are operated around the world. I am not advocating anything they do as I have no experience with them, but here are the common reasons, or root causes, of sickness that they found from their experience:

●    Fear, anxiety, worry, insecurities and stress (compromises the immune system)

●    Fear of man

●    Fear of rejection

●    Involvement in the occult

●    Involvement in false religions

●    Depression, discouragement

●    Unforgiveness toward others or yourself

●    Self-rejection or hatred, shame

●    Sexual sins

●    Rebellion

●    Pride

●    Poor self-image

●    Rejection, abandonment

●    Jealousy, anger, rage, resentment

●    Diet, lack of exercise

●    Spirit of suicide

●    Spirit of perfection

●    Bitterness

●    Generational curse or inherited disease

●    Self-condemnation

●    Guilt

●    Lusting after anything

●    Conflict and bitterness

●    Promiscuity

●    Carrying too many burdens

●    Trauma

●    Poor self-image

●    Allergies, additions

●    Environmental; exposure to chemicals, dust etc.

●    Drive to meet expectations of others

●    Lack of self-esteem

●    Broken relationship between girl and mother

●    Lack or confusion of identity

●    Lack of love and nurturing

●    Anxiety, stress and fear from being left alone without spiritual headship

●    Not having peace in your heart regarding issues of life

●    Heart being chemically stimulated or mentally induced

●    Drug abuse and needles

●    Not trusting God

●    Nervousness

●    Past memories and tormenting spirit

●    Poorly functioning immune system

●    Believing you must pay a price without forgiveness

●    Unresolved rejection

●    Hope deferred

●    Physical injury, trauma

●    Poor stewardship of the body (i.e. diet and exercise)

●    Fear of inadequacy, need to succeed

●    Feeling you don’t belong

●    Inability to deal with stress

●    Internalization of hurts caused by anger and resentment

This is a long list, but absolutely nothing too hard for our God. God will heal if you follow His ways and He says it many, many times in His word. He is not a man that He should lie. As per above, any of these problems can start with your thought life and the Bible and its teachings will solve your problem. We must continue in God’s Word because it gives us the remedies; these remedies are without the scientific background but if it is your pleasure to know the scientific background to your problems, then go and discover such, but ONLY rely on Gods word. Science is catching up with God’s Word, but scripture gives us the answer if we are willing to believe it, even without the scientific explanation.

At times there can be so many problems in our lives, our relations, and the world around us, but we can take heart by these two important verses:

1 Peter 5:7 (KJV)

Casting all your care upon him; for He careth for you.

Romans 12:19 (KJV)

Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

Following are even more verses on Hope to help with the above long list of root causes of sickness...

Micah 7:7-8

7 But as for me, I will watch expectantly for the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation. My God will hear me. 8 Do not rejoice over me, O my enemy. Though I fall I will rise; though I dwell in darkness, the LORD is a light for me.

Lamentations 3:25

The LORD is good to those who wait for Him, to the person who seeks Him.

Psalm 46:10

Be still, and know that I am God;

Isaiah 46:3-4

3 "Listen to Me, O house of Jacob, And all the remnant of the house of Israel, You who have been borne by Me from birth And have been carried from the womb; 4 Even to your old age I will be the same, And even to your graying years I will bear you! I have done it, and I will carry you; and I will bear you and I will deliver you.

The Book of Psalms is filled with verses of HOPE...

Psalm 91:9-13

9 For you have made the LORD, my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place. 10 No evil will befall you, nor will any plague come near your tent. 11 For He will give His angels charge concerning you, to guard you in all your ways. 12 They will bear you up in their hands, that you do not strike your foot against a stone. 13 You will tread upon the lion and cobra, the young lion and the serpent you will trample down.  Note: We must dwell in the house of the Lord and that means going by His rules.

Psalms 139:14

I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully (in awe) and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well. Note: Whenever your body doesn’t “feel” well, speak this verse, also “this too shall pass”.

Psalm 42:11

Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God.

Psalm 46:1-3

1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. 2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change and though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea; 3 though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains quake at its swelling pride.

Psalm 138:7

Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me; You will stretch forth Your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and Your right hand will save me.

Psalm 18:2

The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

Psalm 22:24

24 For He has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; nor has He hidden His face from him; But when he cried to Him for help, He heard.

Psalm 34:17-19

17 The righteous cry, and the LORD hears And delivers them out of all their troubles. 18 The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. 19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the LORD delivers him out of them all.

Psalm 92:12-15

12 The righteous man will flourish like the palm tree, He will grow like a cedar in Lebanon. 13 Planted in the house of the LORD, They will flourish in the courts of our God. 14 They will still yield fruit in old age; they shall be full of sap and very green, 15 to declare that the LORD is upright; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.

Psalm 71:5

For You are my hope; O Lord GOD, You are my confidence from my youth.

The conclusion herein is said best by a verse in Romans, Chapter 15:13…

”I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in Him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.”

And heed Revelation 6:9 (The Way Bible) where it says…”They were singing Him a new song with these words: ‘You are worthy to take the scroll and break its seals and open it; for you were slain, and your blood has bought people from every nation as gifts for God.’” That is, we were bought by Jesus as gifts for God and I don’t expect God desires sickly gifts, but choice gifts.
